About
Restorative Gardeners
A growing community of gardeners working together to restore biodiversity, connection, and ecological resilience.
Your garden is bigger than you think
We tend to think of our gardens as enclosed spaces… but they’re not.
They’re part of a much larger network, and collectively, have the power to support wildlife, reconnect fragmented habitats, and help restore nature on a meaningful scale.
If you have a garden and you’d like to make a difference for wildlife, you are exactly who Restorative Gardeners seeks to support.
Our goal is to connect gardens by connecting the people who care for them. All you need is a garden and a willingness to support nature. Restorative Gardeners will equip you with the skills, inspiration, and community needed to turn your garden into a powerful force for restoration.
What is Restorative Gardening?
Restorative Gardening recognises that our gardens have the power to restore both the natural world and our connection to it.
It recognises that just as wildlife benefits from connected habitats, people benefit from connected communities. By sharing knowledge, experiences, and inspiration, gardeners can help one another create a network of gardens that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Together, these gardens become a powerful force for restoration, helping to create a healthier, more resilient future for both people and nature.
Who’s behind this?
Joe Vary – Founder
I’m Joe, a gardener, educator, and lifelong lover of plants. Over the years, I’ve come to believe that gardens have the power to do far more than simply look beautiful—they can support wildlife, strengthen our connection to nature, and play a meaningful role in restoring the world around us.
Restorative Gardeners grew from that belief, and from a desire to help more people discover the difference they can make through gardening.
